DU announced first cut-off, Ram Lal College declared perfect 100%

This year, Ram Lal Anand College has declared a 100% cut-off similar to what SRCC has done two years back. The college has set a cut-off for its computer science course at a perfect 100% (for non-science aspirants), just like SRCC had done in 20111. Today, Delhi University has declared its first cut-off for admission in undergraduate course.

This year, Delhi University has made many changes in its admission process and programmes. It has scrapped the BA and B.Com Pass course and added the seats of these courses into other sought after courses. DU has declared a higher cut-off for many courses this year too. That is mainly for the courses of Journalism and English, for which students were earlier admitted through centralised entrance test. Cut-off has reached to new level for both the courses. Lady Shri Ram is setting the bar at 97.5%-98.5% for journalism and Hindu at 97.75% -98.5% for English-similar for those of Economics and Commerce.

Grabbing a seat in DU colleges would be more complicated despite many popular colleges trying to raise the bar too high. Cut-offs in off-campus colleges continue to rise significantly, with some colleges registering an increase of 14%.

At the 20-odd colleges that used to enrol students for English honours through a centralised aptitude test, even students with average score stood a chance. But this year the story is bit different. With the entrance test for Journalism and English gone, cut-offs have to hit the roof. While LSR’s journalism cut-off touches those of both bachelors in commerce and economics at Delhi College of Arts and Commerce it is 97.5%.

On the same line, the cut-offs for English at LSR is 97%, at Hindu it is 97.75% to 98.5% at the DCAC it is 95%. All the three were CATE colleges where students scoring 60% in class XII would be eligible for entrance test. In first cut-off too, Commerce Continues to record high cut-offs in most of the colleges.
